A hyperspace surveyor was an individual, similar to that of a cartographer, who would map out hyperspace routes to connect planets with each other. At one point, the Jedi Order hired hyperspace surveyors to map out a dedicated hyperspace route between the Core World Metellos and the Unknown Regions world Ilum, for Jedi needed to travel to Ilum to obtain kyber crystals.[1]
