- "Ezra, how did you know the wolves could do that?"
"I didn't." - ―Zeb Orrelios and Ezra Bridger after experiencing hyperspace tunneling
Hyperspace tunneling was a Force power that was a means of transport similar to traveling through hyperspace that the loth-wolves of Lothal used to pass between distant points in the familiar world, as well as accessing other realms. The White Loth-wolf helped to transport Ezra Bridger and his companions across Lothal on two occasions.
Description[]
Hyperspace tunneling[3] was a Force power[4] that allowed the user to create a hyper tunnel[5] to transport themselves and others across great distances. The tunnel itself was blue and was visually similar to traveling through hyperspace.[2]
The White Loth-wolf was capable of using hyperspace tunneling. While it appeared to have no effect on the White Loth-wolf, individuals that were transported were rendered momentarily unconscious and awoke dazed.[2]
History[]
- Zeb Orrelios: "Huh! Where in blazes are we?"
- Ezra Bridger: "Let's find out."
- Sabine Wren: "Uh... you're not going to believe this. We were in the northern hemisphere. Now we're in the southern hempishere. Somehow, we've moved halfway across the planet."
- ―Zeb, Ezra, and Sabine after traveling across Lothal via hyperspace tunneling[2]
In 1 BBY,[6] when the rebels Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine Wren, Zeb Orrelios, and Ryder Azadi were fleeing Imperial forces following the theft of the TIE Defender Elite, they followed the White Loth-wolf and two other Loth-wolves into the mountains, eventually ending up in their den. As Imperial TIE/sa bombers began to bomb the mountains, the group realized that they had to leave before the caves collapsed. However, trusting the Loth-wolves, Bridger implored his companions to join hands and follow them. Then, the White Loth-wolf created a hyper tunnel, and the three Loth-wolves walked into it. The rebels were rendered temporarily unconscious before waking up in a cliff dwelling. Wren then realized that while they had previously been in the northern hemisphere, readings indicated that they were now in the southern hemisphere.[2]
Following Jarrus' death, his companions Bridger, Wren, Orrelios, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper became aware that the Empire was investigating the Lothal Jedi Temple. Determined to protect it, they agreed to travel there. However, as they were a great distance to the south of the temple and without a ship, Wren reminded the group that they had no way to get there. However, Bridger replied that he knew a way. Contacting the Loth-wolves with the Force, he and his companions mounted the Loth-wolves, with one wolf picking up Chopper in its mouth. The wolves then raced across Lothal's grasslands until the White Loth-wolf used hyperspace tunneling again, bringing them to the Jedi Temple.[1]
The Starkiller Base was an evolution of the planet-destroying capabilities of the Galactic Empire's Death Star designs, with the weapon serving as the ultimate culmination of old Imperial research into dark energy translations and hyperspace tunneling.[3]
