- "These are IG-RM droids. Mostly used as thugs and enforcers by crime lords. They're supposed to be creepy."
- ―Princess Leia Organa
The IG-RM bodyguard and enforcer droid, more commonly known as the IG-RM thug droid and sometimes known as the IG-RM war droid, or IG-RM assassin droid, was a security droid model manufactured by Holowan Laboratories. They were commonly used as enforcers, and as such proved popular with gangsters. Cikatro Vizago, a crime lord on Lothal during the reign of the Galactic Empire, employed IG-RM thug droids to conduct his criminal operations. The Mining Guild also made use of these droids on ore crawlers.

History[edit | edit source]

An IG-RM droid guards the Broken Horn.
Following Order 66, Kalleran smuggler Janus Kasmir and his friend, former Jedi Padawan, Caleb Dume, stole several of these from a warehouse in Plateau City on Kaller.[8] Kasmir then used one to break Dume out of his cell.[6]
Lothal smuggler and Broken Horn Syndicate crime lord, Cikatro Vizago, had several of these droids under his command to enforce his rule.[9]
The Mining Guild employed these droids to serve as guards aboard their ore crawlers.[7]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The design of the IG-RM thug droid was developed from an early piece of concept art developed for IG-88 by artist Ralph McQuarrie. The name IG-RM is a reference to the Original Trilogy concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.
