IG lancer droids,[2] also known as IG-series battle droids,[3] were IG-series battle droids that served in the Banking Clan's IG-series battle droid army. Part of the InterGalactic Banking Clan Collections and Security Division, the IG lancers could serve as scouts or mounted cavalry, and, as part of the Banking Clan's droid army, they were under the direction of the Muun officer corps. The Collections and Security Division itself was part of the Confederacy of Independent Systems's military as one of many corporate defense forces used as the front line defense for their respective worlds. These defense forces could also be used to support fellow Confederate allies and on special missions led by the Separatist Council or their trusted compatriots.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The IG lancer droid first appeared in the Star Wars canon in Darth Maul (2017) 2, a 2017 comic written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Luke Ross.[4] The droids were originally created for Star Wars Legends and first appeared in Star Wars: Clone Wars Chapter 4.[5] The bounty hunter Lan-Drus wears a piece of an IG unit's head in Return of the Jedi – The Rebellion 1 that resembles an IG lancer, but it is unclear if it is meant to be.[6]
