Ian Abercrombie (September 11, 1934January 26, 2012[1]) was a British actor who provided the voice of Palpatine on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film and TV series. He is known for his role as Professor Crumbs on the Disney series, Wizards of Waverly Place.


Abercrombie was born in Grays, Essex, England and is cousin to jazz guitarist John Abercrombie. He married Elizabeth Romano on February 17, 1956. They divorced sometime later. He passed away on January 26, 2012.[1] An episode is dedicated to his memory.


Abercrombie began his career in theater during the World War II Blitz, where he received medals in dance. His theatrical career spanned over 40 years. He made his silver screen debut in Von Ryan's Express, though he was uncredited for his role.
