"The...the people dying...the virus. They came back to eat us. Oh no.....I can still see them if I close my eyes. Make it go away."
―Illrian Nhagy, to a spacer[1]

Illrian Nhagy was male Sullustan who lived during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"I can't wait until my shuttle arrives. I am not coming back to Dathomir ever."
―Illrian Nhagy, to a spacer[1]

After the Battle of Yavin, Illrian Nhagy spent some time near an Imperial Research and Prison Facility on the remote planet Dathomir. There, the Empire was conducting secret and dangerous scientific research, intending to engineer the dreadful Blackwing virus in order to create super soldiers.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] an accident happened at the Imperial Research Facility and resulted in the virus outbreak. Most of the Imperial staff was killed and became flesh-craving undead creatures. Luckily, Nhagy survived the attack of the creatures and finally managed to escape the area, avoiding containment into the promptly-established Quarantine Zone. Illrian Nhagy and other people, such as Tk-216 and Tyla Gallamby, were still present near the Quarantine Zone, awaiting evaluation out of the planet, when independent spacers started to arrive on Dathomir to investigate the outbreak.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Illrian Nhagy appeared as a non-player character (NPC) in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Illrian Nhagy was added to the game with the "Game Update 13," released on September 30, 2009.[4] This NPC was part of the questline "Something is Obviously Wrong,"[1] an introduction to the "Death Troopers" update.[5]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
