Illumi-droids were small hovering droids with three tentacle arms that acted like floating lanterns, illuminating dark places where their owners were.[3] The droids levitated above the ground, and also had the capacity to walk using the trio of appendages on their underside. Several illumi-droids were used to illuminate Rish Loo's secret laboratory on Naboo.[1]
History[]
During the Clone Wars around 20 BBY,[4] several illumni-droids were in use in the secret laboratory of the Separatist-aligned Gungan Rish Loo. When Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker infiltrated the lab, Count Dooku used the droids to attack the Jedi, though he managed to destroy all of them using his lightsaber. The failure of the unarmed droids to harm Skywalker was of no consequence to the count, who successfully captured him in the duel.[1] In 19 BBY,[5] many colorful lantern droids were part of Preigo's Traveling World of Wonder, and took part in the circus's performance for Hondo Ohnaka and his group of pirates on Florrum.[2]
