"I met with Colonel Jev on Nieuth Four. And I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism. He is working with us to ensure that a peaceful existence for the inhabitants of the galaxy is possible."
―Airen Cracken[src]

Ilo Jev was a Human male Imperial commander and later colonel in Imperial Intelligence. He became an undercover operative for the Rebel Alliance after his father was executed by order of Moff Varnier.

Ilo Jev grew up in the middle class suburbs surrounding Wyloff's capital city. His father was a local broadcast personality. Jev's interest in his father's line of work led to a part time job in the holoproduction booth where he was recruited by the Imperial News Network, a "civilian" branch of Imperial Intelligence's Media division.[1]

Ilo was given command of a section of the Wyloff sector Plexus' lower division technicians. Jev's leadership and performance earned him a quick promotion to captain and he was transferred to ExComm.[1]

Several years later Jev continued to rise through the ranks and was eventually promoted to commander. The day after his promotion his father was executed as a Rebel sympathizer. In actuality his father was not being subversive to the Galactic Empire and had instead reported on Moff Varnier's preoccupation with recreational activities. Moff Varnier ordered his execution as part of a larger plan to eliminate any opposition and detractors to his rule.[1]

Varnier had issued orders through back channels to Intelligence's Destabilization and Assassination branches to carry out his orders despite not having approval from central Imperial Intelligence.[1]

As Varnier was uncovering this information one of his subordinates discovered a Rebel agent trying to penetrate their system. The agent was captured and Jev realized that it was an Imperial agent pretending to be a Rebel agent. Jev felt betrayed by the Empire and was angry at the Moff for the death of Jev's father and so Jev manipulated the Intelligence agency to get an execution order delivered for the "Rebel" agent which Jev carried out immediately.[1]

A review of the incident caused Jev to commended by Imperial officials for following duty while his superior officer, Colonel Markenson, was relieved of duty due to incompetency. Jev was promoted to colonel and under his command the ExComm facility became the most efficient of all the local sectors with an error rate a quarter of the normal error rate.[1]

Despite his success, Jev was still angry about the death of his father and after the Destruction of Alderaan in 0 BBY he resolved to switch sides. He was contacted by Vin Northal who arranged a meeting between Jev and General Airen Cracken. The result was that Jev would continue as a deep cover operative and fed the Rebel Alliance valuable intelligence from the Wyloff facility as well as supervising a Rebel espionage droid.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Jev was a Human male. He was a highly efficient leader who demanded, often angrily, perfection in his subordinates. He would constantly bark orders whenever a mistake was made. Internally he is bitter towards the Empire and felt it was ruled by corrupt leaders and mass murderers. He was not sympathetic to the Rebel cause but helped then in order to get revenge against the Empire.[1]

Skills and abilities[]

Jev was an extremely skilled leader and excelled at leading his division. His career path and access to information made him highly knowledgeable of Imperial operations within his sector. He was also a master at using the ExComm facilities. Jev kept himself highly trained for combat and was very skilled in all kinds of blasters and melee combat.[1]

Jev carried around a Code cylinder, a BlasTech BlasTech Industries with a laser sight, a comlink, and a datapad. He also had full access to the Wyloff sector Imperial communications and computer network through ExComm.[1]
