Ilum crystals were a type of kyber crystals found deep within the caves of the snow-covered planet Ilum. They were regarded as some of the best crystals for making lightsabers.[1]
The Jedi were often known to travel to the planet Ilum as Padawans to find a Ilum Crystal during a ritual called "The Gathering." The Padawans would enter the Crystal Cave and locate their crystals using the Force before bringing it back to the front gate.[3]
It was said by pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka that the amount of credits that a Ilum Crystal was worth was enough to make a man rich.[4]
