During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire established a garrison on the planet Ilum, which was popularly used by the Jedi Order before. Parts of the 481st Legion was originally dispatched to Ilum as part of Order 66, but was later replaced by the garrison which was a joint Imperial Navy and Imperial Army deployment. A small battle group blockaded the planet as well.[1] In 14 BBY, the Jedi Cal Kestis traveled to Ilum to find a new kyber crystal. After getting it, he encountered elements of the garrison.[2]
