The Imperial Office of Security was a part of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Intelligence and Security Bureau offices, which were used by Imperial Intelligence and the Imperial Security Bureau and were located within the Citadel Tower[1] on the Outer Rim planet Scarif. The RA-7 protocol droid 4D6-J-A7 was stationed in the office[2] as an administrative assistant. The droid was often exposed to classified information at the location.[3]

During the Battle of Scarif of 0 BBY, the whole tower, which incorporated the office, was obliterated[1] by the Death Star superweapon on the directive of Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin in order to prevent the Death Star plans stored within the Citadel Tower's vault from falling into the Rebellion's hands.[4]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Imperial Office of Security was first mentioned, albeit indirectly, in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide, authored by Pablo Hidalgo.[3] The office was first identified by name in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Geektionary: The Galaxy from A - Z, which was published by Egmont UK Ltd.[2]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 Star Wars: Geektionary: The Galaxy from A - Z establishes that 4D6-J-A7 was stationed at the Imperial Office of Security on Scarif. Since Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide states that a series of Imperial Intelligence and Security Bureau offices were located in the Citadel Tower on Scarif, where the same droid worked as an administrative assistant, the Imperial Office of Security must be one of those offices located in the tower. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas also dates the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, including the destruction of the entire Citadel Tower during the Battle of Scarif, to 0 BBY.
