- "Guerilla raids are one thing, but our forces aren't trained or equipped to fight Special Operations commandos. If we lose, we lose more than the G-Tap, we lose Sulon herself."
- ―Morgan Katarn before the Battle of the G-Tap
Imperial Special Operations,[2] or Imperial Spec Ops,[3] was a unit of the Galactic Empire, a division of the Imperial Army.[2]
The Ghost Battalion, officially the Special Ops Group, was a legendary military group of convert operations. In some of their assignments, such as the Subjugation of Sulon, they used converted captured vehicles, or appropriately disguised Imperial vehicles and S.O. commandoes. The result would be to accuse the Rebel Alliance and accuse them for the massacre as terrorists.[4]
Around the time of his graduation from the Carida Academy, Kyle Katarn accepted a commission in the special operations division.[2] Meck Odom had requested for a Special Operations assignment. It was granted quickly and he was transferred to the Danuta research facility where the superlaser for the Death Star was being researched.[4]
A particularly resistant model of battle armor was developed for Imperial Spec Ops officers during the Galactic Civil War.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Special Operations is an entity that was intended to appear in the video game Star Wars: Dark Forces, represented by the agent Ruu San who protected the Dark Trooper Project, however these references were cut.[5]
