The Insiders was a unofficial military unit within the Combined Defense Forces of the New Republic dedicated to stopping the spread of the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy and after the decline of the New Republic.

History[]

In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong's sacking of Coruscant, remnants of the New Republic military under the command of Wedge Antilles retreated to the planet Borleias to regroup with other loyalists, including members of the Jedi Order. During a meeting on Borleias between the highest ranking officials, the group abandoned their initial plan of searching for key Republic military personnel Garm Bel Iblis and Traest Kre'fey when the sudden arrival of what was left of the Republic's Advisory Council otherwise occupied them.^[1]

Forced to negotiate with the Council, Antilles agreed to hold the planet against superior enemy numbers if Senator Pwoe, who had declared himself Chief of State, would agree to his conditions. Deeming the Advisory Council ineffectual and defunct after the agreement was struck, Antilles sought out Jedi Master Luke Skywalker of the Jedi Order for advice. Suggesting that the Council should gently be subverted in order to perform more effectively, Skywalker recalled the fighting style of the Rebel Alliance and from these talks the Insiders were created. Subsequently, Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo, along with other members, set up resistance cells on a number of worlds without informing the Republic of their activities.^[1]
