The Intellex III was a computer droid brain[2] produced by Industrial Automaton.[1] The Intellex III was installed in R1-series astromech droids and R4-series agromech droids.[2]
It was a powerful unit,[2] capable of handling integration with transports and capital warships. The internal memory had information on five hundred starship designs and an operating speed of 10,000 MPF. The unit also included navigation computer capabilities allowing the droid to calculate a single hyperspace jump in an unprecedented amount of time.[1] The Intellex III was also able to handle both Imperial Navy and Corporate Sector Standard transmission modes.[3] However, the unit lacked the versatility of its successor, the Intellex IV.[2]
