- "More than twenty-five thousand years ago, the Sith were unified by the long-lived King Adas, who led the revolt against Rakata invaders and subsequently acquired Rakatan technology."
- ―Seviss Vaa, Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force
The invasion of Korriban, also known as an assault on Korriban, was an attempt by the Infinite Empire of the Rakata species to conquer planet Korriban, homeworld of the Sith, around 27,700 BBY. The Rakata fought with their Force-based technology but the Sith Empire ruled by King Adas, managed to defend themselves and rout the invaders. However King Adas was killed during the battle and his disappearance plunged Korriban into a bloody civil war.
Prelude[]
- "Lore has it that Adas learned about Holocrons from Rakatan soldiers who attempted to conguer Sith space."
- ―Tionne Solusar, Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force
Around 27,700 BBY, the Rakata of the Infinite Empire discovered the planet Korriban, homeworld of the Sith. At first, the aliens taught King Adas how to record his essence into a device called a "holocron," in an attempt to lull the Sith ruler into their confidence. Putting his newfound knowledge to use, Adas created his own holocron,[8] although the device became more a testament to his accomplishments than a teaching device.[9]
The invasion[]
- "Adas! Adas!"
- ―Adas's forces chanting their leader's name

Sith King Adas, the Sith'ari of ancient Sith
Eventually, though, the Rakata were more blatant in their actions and attempted to conquer the Sith,[8] using their Force-based technology.[1] Adas's forces gathered in a large army on the fields of Korriban to face the invading Rakata, who landed their ships as the king's soldiers chanted their leader's name.[10] The Sith were more than able to defend themselves, and Adas, refusing to tolerate their actions even in his advanced age, led his people in the vehement defense of Korriban. He participated in the punitive action, driving back the invaders with his massive ax[8] and killing dozens of Rakatan warriors.[10] Around this time, a Sith named Yshaar Kael gained the title of "Betrayer of Adas" before being captured by the Rakata,[7] and Raspir, Adas's court magician, was also captured and placed in a mind prison.[11]
In the process, King Adas captured the Rakatan starships and turned them against the invaders. Adas's forces pushed on from Korriban, and reached Ziost, Malachor V, and Tund.[1] However, in securing what he hoped would be a future of freedom for his people, Adas perished.[8]
Aftermath[]
- "The technology the Rakatan brought allowed the Sith to expand their influence and claim the planets that make up the dark fist of Sith Space."
- ―Sorzus Syn, Book of Sith

Korriban's surface was devastated by the invasion
Without the stabilizing influence of Adas as king,[8] Korriban once again was plunged into[2] a bloody[6] civil war,[2] with many claiming the title of Sith'ari.[8] Some of the Sith prophesied that a perfect being would one day arise and assume the position of Sith'ari, although a number of the Kissai priests believed that Adas was the only true Sith'ari and that the prophecy had begun and ended with him.[3] As a result of the internal strife, the Sith capital was relocated to Ziost,[8] leaving behind their desolated homeworld[5] as a tombworld populated by religious fanatics.[1] Later, the successors to King Adas used captured Rakatan starships to expand their empire to the natural borders of their sector,[3] including worlds such as Jaguada,[12] and, to reach other worlds beyond the Stygian Caldera, such as[3] Malachor V,[1][3] Tund,[1][3][12] Thule,[3] and Arorua.[3]
In 19 BBY, a Jedi ExplorCorps member Telloti Cillmam'n found the armor of the Dark Jedi Warb Null on Nicht Ka, an ammonia-washed world located on the border of the ancient Sith Empire. After donning the armor, Cillmam'n was flooded with visions of the ancient Sith history, including the Rakatan invasion of Korriban.[10] In 38 ABY, the Rakatan invasion of Korriban was mentioned in the xenolinguist Doctor Milanda Vorgan's article "The Written Word: A Brief Introduction to the Writing Systems of Galactic Basic."[12]
