JG-1, also known as the Junk Giant, was a monster droid created by Taborr Val Dorn and his gang.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
JG-1, albeit unidentified, first appeared in the picture book Young Jedi Adventures: Jedi Training,[3] which was authored by Caitlin Kennedy and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press on May 2, 2023.[4] The droid was later identified in "The Junk Giant," the second part of the third episode of the Disney+ and Disney Junior animated series Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures,[1] which aired on May 4, 2023.[5]
Despite JG-1's first appearance, the droid was an original character created and developed for the animated series. During the character's conception, JG-1 was designed by Andy Bialk and Amy Beth Christenson, though they landed and finalized with the latter's design which passed to Gabriel Lopez who modeled the droid before texture work can be done by ICON Creative Studio.[6][7]

Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures — "The Junk Giant"
- ↑ The second season of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures spans the dedication of the Starlight Beacon (which appears in the season one finale "The Prince and the Pirate") and the mission to Vrant Tarnum (which appears in "Yoda Rescue"), both of which are dated to 232 BBY by Star Wars: Timelines. The Season Two episodes "The Great Gomgourd Quest" and "The Missing Life Day Feast" take place one year after the Season One episodes "The Harvest Feast" and "Life Day," placing those episodes in 233 BBY. Season One begins around the same year, meaning that the first half of Young Jedi Adventures Season One, which includes "The Junk Giant," takes place around 233 BBY.
