Jango Fett: Open Seasons 1 is the first issue of the Star Wars: Jango Fett: Open Seasons comic series, released on May 1, 2002.

Publisher's summary[]

Jango Fett is the master bounty hunter of his time—a man feared and respected throughout the galaxy. But he wasn't always a bounty hunter. Once he was a simple farm boy from the Outer Rim. But when his family was murdered by the criminal mercenary band known as the Death Watch, Jango fell in with another group of soldiers, the elite Mandalore Warriors—who offer him a chance for revenge! Open Seasons offers an in-depth look at one of the most exciting new characters from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Written by LucasArts' own Haden Blackman (Starfighter: Crossbones) and illustrated by Ramón F. Bachs (Star Wars: Jedi vs. Sith) Jango Fett–Open Seasons is one series you won't want to miss!

Plot summary[]

The story beings with Count Dooku talking to his master Darth Sidious about the bounty hunter Jango Fett who should be a good clone donor because he has been pitted against the most dangerous mercenaries and was victorious. He then tells of how Jango became a Mandalorian. The story then flashes back to the Mandalorian Civil War on Concord Dawn, where the Death Watch led by Vizsla and the True Mandalorians led by Jaster Mereel fight, but the True Mandalorians lose the battle and are scattered. Days later Jaster and his soldiers found the Fetts, Jango's dad gives them food, telling his son that they are just beggars. Unfortunately, the Death Watch who are hunting for the True Mandalorians find this out and kill the family, but Jango manages to escape with Jaster and his men. Vizsla's men proceed to burn the fields where Jaster, Jango and the Mandalorians hide. Jango leads them to an irrigation tube, evading the fire. After escaping, the Mandalorians plan to ambush the Death Watch in town. The seemingly victorious Death Watch are preparing for R&R when the Mandalorians ambush them and wipe out the Death Watch. After the battle, Jaster welcomes Jango into the Mandalorians.
