Janray Tessime was a female artist who survived the destruction of her homeworld Alderaan[1] in the year 0 BBY[2] and spent the rest of the Galactic Civil War tending to the civilian population of the safeworld New Alderaan. She contributed to the efforts of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and its successor the New Republic with her art, creating propaganda pieces like "Join the Tide of Victory!" for the Alliance, "Protect the Republic" for the Republic and "Defenders" for the Republic splinter group known as the Resistance.[1] During her time in the Alliance, she was friends with rebel reporter Corwi Selgrothe.[3] Shortly after the Battle of Endor, Janray became privvy to the knowledge that Princess Leia Organa had just married Han Solo on the forest moon of Endor. She then proposed to Mon Mothma the idea of creating a wedding portrait for Leia and Han, which would ideally lead to a series of unification stories created in collaboration with Corwi Selgrothe. Mothma found the proposal appealing and presented it soon after to the princess, who was more hesitant about the idea.[4]
