Jape was a Force-sensitive male individual who became a Jedi Padawan of the Jedi Order during the Republic Era. He was apprenticed to a Jedi Master that had expertise in the field of astrophysics[1] by 40 BBY.[2] During Jape's training, he was taken by his Master to see unique phenomena such as nebulae and black holes in the galaxy.[1]
When not traveling, Jape spent time in the Grand Orbital Observatory of Coruscant, a structure designed to observe astronomical occurrences, in line with his Master's interests. While in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, his friend and fellow Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi recalled the photos Jape had sent him of his travels, feeling those exploratory adventures were more interesting than his boring trips to the Temple's Jedi Archives.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Jape was mentioned in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]

- ↑ Skywalker: A Family at War places the events of Master & Apprentice eight years before the Invasion of Naboo, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 32 BBY. Therefore, Master & Apprentice takes place in 40 BBY. In Master & Apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi mentions Jape's apprenticeship to his Jedi Master, meaning their partnership must have begun by 40 BBY.
