Jape was a Force-sensitive male individual who became a Jedi Padawan of the Jedi Order during the Republic Era. He was apprenticed to a Jedi Master that had expertise in the field of astrophysics by 40 BBY. During Jape's training, he was taken by his Master to see unique phenomena such as nebulae and black holes in the galaxy.
When not traveling, Jape spent time in the Grand Orbital Observatory of Coruscant, a structure designed to observe astronomical occurrences, in line with his Master's interests. While in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant, his friend and fellow Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi recalled the photos Jape had sent him of his travels, feeling those exploratory adventures were more interesting than his boring trips to the Temple's Jedi Archives.
