A Jedi Master of the Jedi Order lived during the Republic Era and took the Force-sensitive male Jape as a Padawan learner at some point[1] by 40 BBY.[2] The Master specialized in the work field of astrophysics, which centered around the study of astrological occurrences in the galaxy.[1]

As part of Jape's training, the Jedi Master took him to explore unique phenomena such as nebulae and black holes. When not traveling, the Master allowed their Padawan to spend time studying in the Grand Orbital Observatory of Coruscant, a structure designed to observe astronomical occurrences. Jape's friend, Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, recalled the photos his peer had sent him of the interesting phenomena from the travels with his Master. Kenobi felt that his trips to the Jedi Temple's Archives on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant were boring compared to the exploratory adventures of Jape and his Master.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Jape's Jedi Master was mentioned in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]

  2. Skywalker: A Family at War places the events of Master & Apprentice eight years before the Invasion of Naboo, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 32 BBY. Therefore, Master & Apprentice takes place in 40 BBY. In Master & Apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi mentions Jape's apprenticeship to his Master, meaning their partnership must have begun by 40 BBY.
