Jaybo Hood

Jaybo Hood was a ten-year-old^[5] human male who lived on the planet Iego during the Clone Wars. He was a mechanic who tinkered with Separatist battle droids and made them into his own army of personal servants.^[1] When Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker found themselves trapped by a LaserWeb Defense Station on Iego, Hood used his skills to assist them in escaping unharmed.^[4]

Biography[]

A human male^[4] born c. 31 BBY,^[2] Jaybo Hood was one of several individuals who found themselves captive on Iego. After the Separatists abandoned Iego, Hood reprogrammed the battle droids left behind and used them as servants. He used a macro protocol to wipe all of their programming simultaneously. When General Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Anakin Skywalker arrived on the planet looking for an ingredient in the antidote to the Blue Shadow Virus, the latter brashly destroyed eighteen of the defenseless droids.^[4]

Hood served as their guide around the planet and its creatures and grew fond of the two Jedi during their stay. Hood told the two Jedi of "Drol," the "god" of Iego, even mentioning Taquito, a friend of his who was killed upon attempting to leave the planet. Skywalker and Kenobi attempted to leave the planet themselves but were stopped by a laser field installed by the Separatists to prevent its inhabitants from leaving. Hood lent them several of his commandeered vulture droids to help them get off-planet and destroy the field. In doing so, Hood indirectly helped free all the marooned inhabitants of Iego, allowing them to leave whenever they wished.^[4]

Personality and traits[]

Jaybo Hood was a human male who stood at 1.4 meters, or 4 feet, 7 inches,^[3] and had red hair and brown eyes.^[1] Much like Anakin Skywalker in his youth, Hood was smart and resourceful.^[6] He lived like a king on Iego, waited on by his reprogrammed battle droids. Hood was a mechanic^[3] and a tinkerer,^[6] who reprogrammed with a macro protocol to obey him.^[4] As a tinkerer, he devised a way to not only deactivate battle droids to make them harmless, but to reprogram them to be his servants.^[6] Like many others on Iego, Hood believed in the curse of Drol, but he was still willing to help Kenobi and Skywalker try to escape the planet.^[4] Hood also had a vast knowledge of the flora and fauna of his home planet, which proved crucial in helping Kenobi and Skywalker attain the antidote from the reeksa plants.^[6]

Jaybo Hood first appeared in the episode "Mystery of a Thousand Moons" from the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He was voiced by David Kaufman and by Hiro Shimono in Japanese.
