Publisher's summary[]

Peace over Anger
Honor over Hate
Strength over Fear

An evil crime family controls the fate of a planet. Only one witness can bring them down—someone from the inside. In order to make it off the planet to testify, she's going to need the protection of the Jedi.

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi take the assignment, thinking it will be easy. But nothing is ever easy when crime is concerned, and soon the two Jedi are entangled in a violent web of power, corruption, and lies. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan know their allegiance is to the witness. But can she be trusted?

Plot summary[]

One person holds the key to the downfall of a powerful criminal syndicate. She must be safely escorted offworld so that she can testify to the authorities just what she knows. Lena Cobral has agreed to testify against the rulers of the planet Frego, the Cobral criminal family. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon protect her as she gathers evidence and returns to Coruscant. As the Jedi discover, when dealing with powerful and corrupt criminals, nothing can be taken for granted.

Continuity[]

As an indication of Episode II’s impending release, this 2002 novel featured an early appearance of Jedi librarian, Jocasta Nu. A scene set in the Galactic Senate mentioned Chancellor Valorum, but term limitations prevented this from being the same chancellor seen in Episode I – Valorum did not become chancellor until 39 BBY, according to Cloak of Deception.[1]
