Jedi Quest: The False Peace is the ninth in a series of young reader novels that chronicle the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker between Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.

Written by Jude Watson, this book features an attempt by Granta Omega and Jenna Zan Arbor, enemies of the Jedi, to destroy the entire Senate. Along with Siri Tachi, a Jedi Knight, and Ferus Olin, her Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker must stop the two criminals and bring safety to the Senate walls again.

Publisher's summary[]

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
Master and apprentice.
Chosen by fate. Destined for conflict.

The Senate makes the laws that ensure peace and justice in the galaxy. It is meant to keep chaos and lawlessness from taking over.

But what if the Senators are not safe? What if they are about to be attacked by powerful and sinister forces?

Under the watchful eye of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi must counter the threat to the Senate—or the whole galaxy might be thrown into a violent darkness.

Plot summary[]

The hunt for Jenna Zan Arbor and Granta Omega is cut short when the Jedi are recalled to Coruscant by Chancellor Palpatine. A rising tide of anti-Jedi sentiment risks senatorial support for the Order. Leading this political movement is Bog Divinian, shortsighted servant of Senator Sano Sauro. The two conspire to replace Palpatine in a coup with the secret assistance of Zan Arbor and Omega. Divinian’s wife, Astri Oddo, gives Obi-Wan Kenobi the information he needs to uncover the impending attack on the Senate. Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker, Siri Tachi and Ferus Olin are central to deflecting the assault of deadly seeker droids, though once again Zan Arbor and Omega escape. Palpatine neutralizes Sauro’s ambitions by promoting him to Deputy Chancellor, thus keeping his enemy close. Anakin learns much from watching Palpatine’s decisiveness in action, and he admires the man’s convictions. The Jedi help relocate Astri and her son, Lune, away from Bog.

Continuity[]

Though set between Episodes I and II, the novel was written as Episode III was in development. Palpatine and Anakin’s relationship was portrayed in a manner that better reflected their camaraderie in Revenge of the Sith (2005). Obi-Wan’s Senatorial informant, Tyro Caladian, was killed in the course of the story for uncovering a shocking truth about the Senate. Though it wasn’t explicitly stated, Tyro was presumably silenced for learning about the Sith presence on Coruscant.[1]
