"I haven't felt you this tense since... since we fell into that nest of gundarks."
Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker[src]

The Moment of Truth is the seventh in a series of young reader novels that chronicle the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker between Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.

Plot Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Obi-Wan and Anakin are on a mission to save a group of workers from the surveillance post of Typha-Dor located on TY44, a moon of Typha-Dor. The workers are holding valuable information about the invasion plans of Vanqor's fleet. Vanqor is a world with few resources but they are strong militarily and have conquered all the planets in the Uziel system, except for Typha-Dor.

After rescuing the workers, Anakin and Obi-Wan are forced to land on Vanqor because their ship is under attack, crippled, and nearly out of fuel. Anakin and the TY44 crew are then captured and taken to a prison camp amidst the Tomo Craters. The camp is used as a place for insane galactic scientist Jenna Zan Arbor to experiment with her new drug, the Zone of Self-Containment, which is tested on Anakin.

Obi-Wan rescues Anakin, and (after fighting through a gundark nest) with the help of other Jedi, they begin their journey to Typha-Dor—only to learn the invasion has already begun. In the end, Typha-Dor's fleet, with the help of the Jedi, is able to get Vanqor to surrender and undergo peace negotiations with Van-Ith, the ruler of Vanqor.

Publisher's summary[edit | edit source]

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
Master and apprentice.
Chosen by fate. Destined for conflict.

There is increasing tension between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Anakin still feels responsible for the death of a Jedi Council member—a guilt he does not think Obi-Wan can help him overcome.

Obi-Wan feels he is a less-than-perfect Master—trying to teach a less-than-perfect apprentice.

It is with these feelings that Obi-Wan and Anakin head to the last free planets of the Uziel system to make a daring rescue attempt. When the rescue goes awry and Anakin is taken prisoner, the Master and Padawan must overcome their conflict—or a planet will die.
