- "They're heading to the detention level. The Captain's dead. So are half the security detail."
"How many targets are there?"
"Two, but they've split up." - ―An officer and Jensen Corbyt
Jensen Corbyt was a human who served as a lieutenant in the New Republic Defense Fleet, holding the position of First Officer under Captain Hayle on board the Defender-class cruiser Vesper. While the cruiser was transporting the prisoner Morgan Elsbeth, it was approached by a vessel supposedly carrying two Jedi in Sector G-38. Hayle gave Corbyt command of the bridge as he went to meet the new arrivals, who were in fact allies of Elsbeth. After her ally Baylan Skoll killed Hayle, the Force-sensitive Shin Hati fought her way to the bridge and killed Corbyt.
Biography[]
Unexpected arrivals[]
- "A ship has entered this sector."
"They're early."
"It isn't Home One." - ―A nav droid and Jensen Corbyt
Jensen Corbyt was a human who served as an officer in the Defense Fleet of the New Republic.[2] In 9 ABY,[1] she held the rank of lieutenant and was stationed on board the Defender-class cruiser Vesper[2] as First Officer, serving under Captain Hayle. After being captured by the Jedi Ahsoka Tano, the former Imperial Morgan Elsbeth was brought on board the Vesper as a prisoner for transport to her trial by the New Republic.[4]
Corbyt stood on board the bridge with Hayle as the cruiser entered sector G-38, where it was planned to meet with the New Republic vessel Home One. After a nav droid informed the officers that another ship had entered the sector, Corbyt assumed it was the Home One arriving earlier than expected, but the droid informed her that it was a different vessel. Hayle then announced a security alert and had a comms officer contact the unidentified vessel to request identification and clearance codes.[4]
Killed in the line of duty[]
- "I'm calling their bluff. Signal them to come aboard. I want to meet these "Jedi." Have security meet me in the hangar. You've got the bridge."
"Yes, sir" - ―Hayle and Corbyt
The vessel sent back an old Jedi clearance code, which surprised Corbyt, but Hayle agreed to let the new arrivals on board to meet the prisoner, hoping to call their bluff and reveal their true identity. The captain then got up to go and greet them and ordered Corbyt to have the cruiser's security meet him in the hangar, giving her command of the bridge while he was gone. Corbyt then took a seat in the captain's chair.[4]
The "Jedi" in the hangar were in fact Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, Force-sensitive allies of Elsbeth. They quickly cut down Hayle and the security detail in the hangar, causing alarms to begin sounding on the bridge.[4] Corbyt began trying to enact defensive protocols[2] and was handed a blaster pistol by a crew member as she received a report on Hayle's death, learning that the attackers had split up. The First Officer then spun in her chair as Hati entered the bridge, lightsaber drawn, which she used to deflect a series of shots from Corbyt's blaster while advancing on the officer.[4] The Force-sensitive then killed Corbyt[2] and scuttled the ship before leaving with Skoll and Elsbeth.[4]
Personality and traits[]
- "They're Jedi."
"Say again?"
"The signal is an old Jedi clearance code. They say they're here to see the prisoner."
"Captain, who are they?" - ―The comms officer and Jensen Corbyt
Corbyt was surprised at the mention of Jedi[4] but remained stoically at her post even under dire circumstances. She had tan skin, black hair, and brown eyes. The lieutenant stood 1.68 meters tall.[3]
Equipment[]
Jensen Corbyt wore a brown and blue New Republic officer's uniform with a rank insignia plaque showing one blue dot. When the ship was attacked, she was armed with a blaster pistol.[4]
