Jidel was a member of the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing who died at some point prior to Lieutenant Yrica Quell's defection from the Empire[2] around 4 ABY.[1] Around 5 ABY,[3] Quell had a vision of Jidel and some other dead friends of hers from the 204th while subjected to Force energies from an observatory in the Cerberon system.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Jidel was mentioned in the 2020 novel Shadow Fall, the second volume of the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy written by Alexander Freed.[2]

Notes and references[]

  1. 1.0 1.1 Shadow Fall establishes that Jidel died before Yrica Quell defected from the Galactic Empire, which Alphabet Squadron states occurred several weeks after the Battle of Endor. The battle is dated to 4 ABY by Star Wars: Galactic Atlas, so Quell's defection happened around that year, and Jidel's death must have occurred by that time.
  2. 2.0 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 Shadow Fall
  3. StarWars.com In Shadow Fall, the Dark Secrets of Alphabet Squadron Revealed on StarWars.com (backup link) establishes that Shadow Fall takes place approximately half a year after the Battle of Endor, while Before the Awakening states that Kes Dameron and Shara Bey moved to Yavin 4 around six months after the Battle of Endor. Given that Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates their move to 5 ABY, the events of Shadow Fall must also take place around that time.
