John Boyega (born March 17, 1992) is a British actor who stars as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Biography

Boyega's first film role was as the lead, Moses, in British horror comedy Attack the Block (2011), directed by Joe Cornish. That year he also filmed a pilot for the boxing drama Da Brick, which was not picked up for a series, and appeared in four episodes of the webseries Becoming Human. In 2013, he had a supporting role in the Nigerian film Half of a Yellow Sun, as well as the BBC TV movie The Whale, dramatizing the 1820 sinking of the Essex. He starred in the crime drama Imperial Dreams, which was screened at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, and appeared that year in 24: Live Another Day.

His involvement in the sequel trilogy was first announced on April 29, 2014.[2] He has also been involved in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny as well as several Star Wars video games; After making a Twitter post criticizing Star Wars Battlefront's lack of a story campaign,[4] Boyega hosted a trailer for Star Wars Battlefront II.[5]

In 2019, moving apartments and partying, Boyega left a script for Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker under his bed, which was found a few weeks later by a cleaner, who not realizing what they had, posted the script on eBay for $84. The script was purchased by a quick-thinking Disney staffer, preventing a massive leak, but Boyega nevertheless found the experience "scary."[6]
