John Wayne (May 26, 1907 – June 11, 1979[1]) was an American actor. His last role in a film was as the voice of the character Garindan ezz Zavor in the 1977 original trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Obtained through stock audio, Wayne's voice was processed and used as part of Garindan's dialogue, which was spoken in the whirring syllables of the Kubazian language. Garindan's A New Hope voice was also reused for the video games LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Wayne's roles in Western films such as The Searchers and True Grit inspired the cantina scene and the character of Han Solo in A New Hope.[2] His grandson Brendan Wayne also acted in The Mandalorian.
