Jorallan opal was a type of exquisite opal gemstone that could be found on[1] the terrestrial[4] Mid Rim[5] planet Joralla.[4] Jorallan opals were worth from two to twenty thousand credits per Coruscant Standard Carat and were among the types of plunder favored by pirates.[3] By approximately 0 ABY,[6] the cargo of the Star Galleon-class frigate Emperor's Will, a treasure ship of the Galactic Empire, included a mythra-chain necklace of twelve Jorallan opals, thirty-six carats in total.[2]
Around that year,[6] the crew of the Rebel Alliance privateer frigate[7] Far Orbit captured the cargo of the Emperor's Will, including the Jorallan opal necklace.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Jorallan opals were first mentioned in Timothy S. O'Brien's 1997 West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Pirates & Privateers.[3] They then went on to have their first full appearance in "The Grand Prize," a roleplaying adventure authored by O'Brien and included in the 1998 book The Far Orbit Project.[2]
