The Kage were a pale-skinned sentient species native to the caverns in the planet of Quarzite. The Kage had a long-time conflict with the Belugans and were opposed to them. During the Clone Wars, Otua Blank ordered the capture of Pluma Sodi to marry her, she was later given back to the Kage Warriors by Asajj Ventress. Krismo Sodi and Pluma Sodi were known members of this species.
Society and culture[]
The Kage were a spirited and dedicated people. Their most powerful combatants,[2] the Kage warriors, were highly skilled martial artists determined to defend the Kage people.[3] They pushed themselves to the utmost physical excellence, and were tireless, elite fighters, nimble and stealthy, and effective with the electro sword or unarmed.[2] Riding atop multi-legged milodons, they could keep pace with the subtram transports.[1]
History[]
The Kage were native from Quarzite,[1] a planet from the Mid Rim[4] notable for its strong atmospheric pressure.[1] As result its inhospitable nature prevented it from truly flourishing as part of the galactic community. Underneath the surface, though, were immense crystalline cave networks of equalized pressure, where life could exist.[3] The caverns of Quarzite were home to the mysterious Kage.[5]
An ongoing conflict between the outnumbered Kage and the powerful Belugans[2] had been occourring by the times of the Clone Wars.[1] The Kage had rebelled against the brutal rule of the Belugan warlord Otua Blank and staged raids from the backs of their milodons.[5] In 20 BBY[6] Otua Blank kidnapped Pluma Sodi, sister of the leader of Kage Warriors Krismo Sodi, to make her his bride. A group of mercenaries, including Dathomirian Asajj Ventress, was assembled to deliver the girl, closed in a box, to Blank's stronghold. In the ensuing mission Ventress liberated Pluma and delivered her to his brother.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Initially Krismo and Pluma were originally humans[7] instead of Kage as seen in the final TV episode.[1]
