- "I never knew my parents."
- ―Kanan Jarrus, to Ezra Bridger
A male individual was the father of the human Caleb Dume, later known as Kanan Jarrus. Although Jarrus did not remember his father due to being taken from his family by the Jedi Order, he later thought about his father on multiple occasions in his adult life.
Biography[]

Kanan Jarrus never knew his father.
A male individual was the father of the human Caleb Dume,[1] a native of[3] the planet[4] Coruscant[3] who was born in 33 BBY.[4] Dume was taken from his family at a young age and trained as a Jedi and therefore never knew his father. Dume came to be known as Kanan Jarrus following the fall of the Jedi Order[1] in 19 BBY.[4] When Jarrus ended up on the planet Gorse[1] in 12 BBY,[4] the miner Okadiah Garson kindly took him under his wing. At one point[1] in 11 BBY,[5] while he ate stew in Drakka's Diner, Jarrus pondered how the Jedi teachings regarding attachment had impacted his life as a fugitive, and his thoughts drifted towards his own father. After consideration of Garson's role in his life, he felt that the foreman was the most father-like patron he had met during his travels.[1]
During the Battle of Garel[2] in 3 BBY,[4] when Jarrus' apprentice Ezra Bridger wanted to return to the planet Lothal to find his parents, who he had presumed dead until a recent Force vision, Jarrus warned him to be cautious. Growing frustrated, Bridger angrily stated that Jarrus had no idea what he was feeling. Jarrus calmly responded by admitting that Bridger was right, noting he had never known his parents, causing Bridger to apologize for the comment.[2]
