Kara Xoo was a female Quarren member of the Nihil. By the time of the Battle of Kur, she held the rank of Storm in Kassav's Tempest, commanding her own unit. After the Strikes Gwishi and Klinith Da, members of Xoo's unit, were captured after a skirmish on the moon Wevo, she decided to take revenge by attacking the planet Dalna. Xoo commanded the starship Poisoned Barb.[1]
Following the disappearance and presumed death of Pan Eyta during a failed raid on the Cyclor Shipyards, Xoo was promoted, taking Eyta's place as the third Tempest Runner of the Nihil.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Kara Xoo was created for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project and first appeared in the 2021 middle grade novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage, which was written by Justina Ireland and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press.[1] Xoo was designed by artist Jeffrey Thomas, who opted to give her more nautically-themed clothing to differentiate her clothing from Marchion Ro's. Thomas based the design of Xoo's mask off of the helmet worn by Black Manta, an aquatic-themed supervillain appearing in comics published by DC Comics.[5]
