- Trennis: "What've you got for us?"
- Mann: "Information—of a worrying nature. According to our contact on Rorak 5, the Hutts are looking to stabilize their dominance of the Kastolar sector."
- Jahen: "With all due respect, Jedi Master Mann, the Hutts are losing ground daily."
- ―Jedi Master Keeve Trennis, Elzar Mann, and Velko Jahen[1]
The Kastolar sector was dominated by the Hutt Clan during the High Republic Era.[1] In the days after the destruction of[1] the Galactic Republic[2] space station Starlight Beacon by the Nihil pirates[1] in 230 BBY,[3] the clan annexed a number of Republic star systems.[1] In 228 BBY,[3] a Republic contact stationed on the astronomical object Rorak 5 learned the clan hoped to stabilize its dominance of the Kastolar sector and informed the Republic. Concerned by the development, Jedi Master Elzar Mann notified the crew of the Republic Longbeam cruiser Gios of the news. Republic Commander Velko Jahen told Mann the Hutts had been continually losing territory and noted recent clan losses of star systems.[1]
Behind the scenes[]

The High Republic (2023) 1 marked the first mention of the Kastolar sector in the current Star Wars canon.
The Kastolar sector was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic, released as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase III. The issue was written by Cavan Scott and published by Marvel Comics on November 8, 2023.[4]
The Kastolar sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity. It was first mentioned in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #55, an issue of the representation of the in-universe HoloNet News[5] written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens[6] and published on May 9, 2002.[7] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, subsequently placed the Kwenn Space Station[8]—which had first appeared in Tatooine Manhunt, a 1998 adventure supplement written by Bill Slavicsek and Daniel Greenberg for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game[9]—within the Kastolar sector,[8] thereby retroactively making Tatooine Manhunt the sector's first full appearance.[9]

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic: Temptation of the Force takes place one year and six weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon and its events span a few months, it must be set in 228 BBY. The High Republic: Tempest Breaker establishes the events of the comic series Star Wars: The High Republic (2023) occur concurrently to the events of Temptation of the Force, therefore meaning they must take place in the same year.
