- "Armor like that, I take it you're CCs, like me."
- ―Gregor, to Clone Force 99
Katarn-class commando armor, or simply Katarn-class armor,[3] was a type of heavy and highly sophisticated clone trooper armor utilized by clone commandos of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, and later by the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.[2]
Description[]
Katarn-class armor sets were given to clone commandos and equipped with backpacks that contained grenades and sabotage gear. Commandos could choose the colors of their suits.[7] The armor shared its name with the Katarn species, which was native to the world of Kashyyyk.[8] One variant of the Katarn-class armor was the Mk I Katarn-class Commando Armor.[2]
History[]
Katarn-class Commando Armor was used by clone commandos throughout the Clone Wars[9] and into the Imperial Era.[6] The members of Clone Force 99 wore modified Katarn-class armor.[5] In the Imperial Era,[6] much like how standard clones lost the color to their armor and that gear was returned to a blank white state,[10] clone commando armor was often reduced to a blank white appearance.[6] Clone Commander Scorch was allowed to retain his colors, however, and commandos of the Imperial royal guard wore armor with grey markings. A number of blank armored commandos, however, worked alongside the grey-accented royal guard at Mount Tantiss.[11]
