Kerane's Folly was one of the notable bodies within the Hoth asteroid belt, an asteroid field that overlapped the boundaries of the Hoth system and Anoat system in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[2]

Airtight Base was mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in issue 39 of Star Wars: Build the Millennium,[2] which was released around September 30, 2015.[3] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in The Illustrated Star Wars Universe, a 1995 reference book written by Kevin J. Anderson.[4]
