Kerensik was a terrestrial planet[3] located in the Kerensik system,[1] a part of the Southern Core portion of[2] the Core Worlds. Kerensik was a part of[1] the Allied Region known as the Botor Enclave.[5]
Kerensik was a frozen world, with winter being the only season on the planet. Kerensiki trees featured spines which were very dissimilar to the leaves of trees from other worlds. Kane Griggs was born and raised on Kerensik.[3]
Years before the destruction of the planet Alderaan by the Galactic Empire's Death Star superweapon[3] in 0 BBY,[6] Griggs left Kerensik for the first time and traveled to another world, where he enrolled in a political studies course at an Imperial university. On that world, Griggs was amazed at the difference between the autumn season and his native Kerensik.[3]
During the struggle between the Empire and the New Republic, the Botor Enclave declared its independence,[5] and its member worlds, including Kerensik, formed a protective federation of its own.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Kerensik was first mentioned in the 1993 Dark Empire Sourcebook, which was authored by Michael Allen Horne and published by West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Kerensik system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square K-12.[5]
