Kettch was a dark-furred Ewok present on Endor around 4 ABY. After the Battle of Endor, he was involved in the brief conflict between the Ewoks and their fellow Rebellion allies, the Lahsbees, which developed at the instigation of the Hiromi known as Hirog.[1] Kettch donned Imperial stormtrooper chest armor and carried a hatchet to prepare for the war that never came.[2]
Kettch shared his name with a fictional Ewok X-wing pilot serving with Wraith Squadron, invented as a prank by pilot Wes Janson.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The name "Kettch" first appeared as part of a prank by Wraith Squadron pilot Wes Janson, who made up a fictional Ewok candidate for membership in the squadron as a joke to Wedge Antilles.[3] The prank was continued by the rest of the squadron, eventually including a stuffed Kettch toy.[4] There was no suggestion that a real Kettch existed until a Hasbro action figure set featured a figure bearing the name, revealing him to be an Ewok in Marvel Comics' Star Wars 94. The figure used the same sculpt (including the cowl) as the earlier Ewok figure Romba, along with a Stormtrooper breastplate originally released with Han Solo.
The package's image of the Kettch action figure[1] matches an Ewok in the Marvel comic wearing an orange hood and stormtrooper armor, wielding a hatchet.[2]
