The Kibnon were a group in the galaxy associated with Kibnon stimulant pollen.[1] At some point prior to or during 10 BBY,[2] the pollen was listed as one of the most profitable cargoes for smugglers to carry by the pirate queen Maz Kanata in the book known as the Smuggler's Guide.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

In the new Star Wars canon, the Kibnon were first mentioned in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, a reference book written by Daniel Wallace and released in 2018.[1] They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they first appeared as a sentient insectoid species in Galaxy Guide 7: Mos Eisley, a 1993 supplement to Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Martin Wixted.[3]

Notes and references[edit | edit source]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide
  2. The entry in Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide mentioning the Kibnon is placed chronologically prior to an entry written by the criminal Tobias Beckett. Solo: A Star Wars Story depicts Beckett's death on the planet Savareen, and Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide dates the events on Savareen in the film to nine years after the proclamation of the New Order. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the proclamation to 19 BBY, Beckett's death must occur in 10 BBY, and so his entry in the guide and those chronologically before it must all be set prior to or during 10 BBY.
