The Kilji data rectangle was a rectangular type of datacard used by the Kilji species and their nation of the Kilji Illumine aboard their warships.[1] Around 18 BBY,[2] Colonel Tildnis of the Illumine, stored a data rectangle aboard his Kilji picket cruiser, the Hammer. Following the cruiser's capture by the Chiss Ascendancy, the ship's Pathfinder navigator, Sarsh, stole data on the Kilhorde and its combat doctrines from a Kilji data rectangle at the ship's bridge. The pathfinder then handed it over to Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who had boarded the Hammer.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Kilji data rectangle appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final volume in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]

  2. The events of Thrawn: Alliances set during the Clone Wars take place after Ahsoka Tano had left the Jedi Order. Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates both the end of the Clone Wars and Tano's departure from the Order to 19 BBY. As the main events of Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising take place concurrently with the Clone Wars events of Alliances, Chaos Rising must be set in 19 BBY. Furthermore, during the main events of Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, it is established that the attack on Csilla, which is depicted as part of the main events of Chaos Rising, took place "last year." Therefore, the main events of Lesser Evil must be set around 18 BBY.
