Kirdo III, also referred to simply as Kirdo,[5] was a planet[3] located in the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories,[1] that was the homeworld of the Kitonak species[4] On the way back from Rodia, Luke Skywalker forged a new hyperspace lane between Kirdo and Orto Plutonia.[6]
Chindinkalu plants were native to Kirdo III. The Kitonak musician Droopy McCool used a hollow chindinkalu plant to create his Chindinkalu flute[3] which he played at Jabba's Palace in 4 ABY[7] during the Rescue of Han Solo.[8]
Behind the scenes[]
Kirdo III was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races, a 1989 Star Wars Legends supplement written by Troy Denning for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[9] It became canon when it was mentioned in the 2015 novel Heir to the Jedi as Kirdo,[6] but was first identified as Kirdo III in the Star Wars: Card Trader card Droopy McCool - Chindinkalu Flute Player, which included detailed information about Droopy McCool.[3]
