A kleptocracy was a method of rule which followed the practice of might-makes-right, favoring strength. The Outer Rim planet of Sanyassa IV was run by such a government during the time of the Old Republic, the Rebellion, and the New Republic. The history of the native Sanyassans indicated that, in the preceding period, the society of their homeworld was more advanced.[1]

The kleptocracy of Sanyassa IV was mentioned in the 2003 reference book Ultimate Alien Anthology, created for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast.[1] In the real world, a kleptocracy is a government whose leaders seek personal power and wealth at the expense of the populace.[2]
