Plot summary[]
Surrounded by Taris security and the Jedi Master Lucien on Taris' Rogue Moon, Jarael and Zayne Carrick are faced with impossible odds. Just then, The Last Resort blasts the surface, scattering the security forces, allowing Zayne and Jarael to escape with the remains of T1-LB, which they hope to recover memory holograms from.
On The Last Resort, Camper works to repair T1-LB, which becomes up and running after some modifications and repairs. Zayne asks T1-LB, nicknamed Elbee, to display a recording of his final hour on the Rogue Moon in order to gather clues regarding the circumstances surrounding the Taris massacre. Displayed are the Jedi masters meditation where they foresee the rise of a Dark Lord on Taris. Convinced that one of their Padawans will become this Sith Lord, they conspire to kill their students. T1-LB, the conspiracy's sole witness, is then thrown off a cliff by Lucien. With the recording finished, Elbee deletes the memory as a result of seeing his own demise.
Soon afterwards, The Last Resort is caught in the tractor beam of Valius Ying's ship, the Oroko. There to collect the bounty on Zayne and Gryph, Gryph manages to negotiate freedom for himself, Jarael, and Camper, but the bounty hunters will not give up Zayne.
Later, having escaped custody, Zayne, who is worried that the prophecy may come true and that he may become a Sith Lord, attempts to board The Last Resort and escape the Oroko. Before he can leave, however, he is spotted by Jarael who chides him for getting her and Camper into this mess only to abandon them and steal their ship. After his scolding, Zayne drops his lightsaber and decides to turn himself in to the Jedi and Taris authorities to prevent the prophecy foreseen by the Jedi from coming true.
