Description[]
The Koradin sector was a space sector located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Western Reaches.[3] It contained the Abridon, Brint-wo, Coveway, Echerta, Errimin, Keskin, Kobal's World, Kovor, Lipsec, Merokia, Ostor, Port Jerrell, Pulassas Minor, Samovar, Shuraden, Sump, Talpiddi, Tancon, Tegrat, Tiikae, Varlinaar, Virgillia, and Winter's Edge systems. The star systems were situated in grid squares J-18 and I-18 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Sump was situated on the Lipsec Run hyperspace route,[4] which connected it to Eiram system as well as[8] the planets[9][10] Merokia and Shuraden.[8]
History[]
By 382 BBY,[11] the effects of the war between the Outer Rim planets Eiram and E'ronoh began affecting trade routes in the Koradin sector due to pirates picking off the spoils of war. That year, Supreme Chancellor Orlen Mollo grew frustrated with the war's toll on the Koradin sector and other locations, which had thus far required the extensive rerouting of several hyperspace routes. When Eiram requested assistance from the Galactic Republic's Office of the Frontier, Mollo traveled to the Eiram system in his Alif-class Longbeam, the Paxion, telling several Jedi—who were in the system delivering aid to Eiram—about the current situation, including how several locations in the sector, such as Sump, Shuraden, and Merokia, were requesting aid.[7]
Locations[]
The Koradin sector's[12] Talpiddi system was home to the sentient Talpiddian species.[6][13] At some point by 1 BBY,[14] the Galactic Empire attempted to assassinate the Partisans rebel leader Saw Gerrera on the celestial body Errimin[15]— which was situated in the sector[16]—by poisoning him with teccitin. Though the attempt was unsuccessful, Gerrera was ill for several months afterward.[15]
During the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the government of the Virgillia system was backed by the former faction. In turn, the organization known as the Virgillian Free Alignment was among the Rebel Alliance's early allies. The two Virgillian factions fought a bitter civil war in which the Free Alignment ultimately prevailed.[17]
The star system became a member of the Empire's successor, the New Republic, and subsequently came to be one of the strongest supporters of the Resistance.[17] By 34 ABY,[18] the Free Virgillia-class Bunkerbuster, a type of corvette that was manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation[17] and armed with Virgillian-designed heavy plasma bombs[19] and of which the Resistance vessel Ninka was one example, shared its name with the Virgillia system.[17]
The terrestrial[5] planet[20] Sump was the homeworld of the sentient Nuknog species,[5] including[21] the offworld podracer Ark Roose. At some point, Sump was mentioned in an entry of an artist's journal dedicated to the Nuknog. The journal was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive[5] at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[22] The planet Abridon was the homeworld of the human Amnen Jhoff, her son Harclew, and her grandson Kasva.[23]
Behind the scenes[]

Convergence marked the first mention of the Koradin sector in the current Star Wars canon.
The Koradin sector was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Convergence, a 2022 novel written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.[7] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Outer Rim Territories' Koradin sector[24] was first mentioned in the 1994 sourcebook Galaxy Guide 11: Criminal Organizations, written by Rick D. Stuart for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[25] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry placed the Brint-wo and Tegrat systems in the sector.[24]
The latter contained[24] the planet Tegrat, which appeared in the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game adventure "Imperial Research Station 13," written by Lester W. Smith and published in the October–November 1990 forty-sixth issue of the Challenge magazine. The adventure was thereby established as the de facto earliest appearance of the Koradin sector; however, its canonicity with respect to the Legends continuity was never confirmed since it was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process.[26] The first appearance of the Koradin sector in a canonical source was through the appearance of the planet Brint-wo and the space station Brint-wo Colony in the 1999 LucasArts video game Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance.[27]
