- "How about some Mandalorian kri'gee?"
"Always wanted to try the hard stuff." - ―Jace Malcom and Theron Shan
Kri'gee was a Mandalorian ale. With a significantly potent alcohol content and a strong bitter taste, kri'gee was unlike[1] its traditional contemporary, the sweeter Mandalorian black ale known as ne'tra gal.[3] Kri'gee was cheap to produce, and often left drinkers with a painful hangover. The ability to suffer kri'gee's unpleasant aftereffects without complaint was often seen as a sign of Mandalorian fortitude.[4]
In the year 3954 BBY, numerous Mandalorians belonging to the Ordo clan enjoyed kri'gee during their celebration of the return of their long-lost kinsman, Canderous Ordo, while staying on the Outer Rim world of Rekkiad. Ordo's close friend, the Jedi Master Revan, joined in the celebrations and—though he found the Mandalorian beverage vile to the taste—partook of enough kri'gee to become intoxicated, only to suffer the effects of a severe hangover the following morning.[1] Centuries later, Galactic Republic Colonel Jace Malcom shared a drink of kri'gee with Revan's distant descendant and Malcom's own son, Theron Shan.[2]
By the time of the Galactic Empire's rise, kri'gee was served in a number of establishments throughout the galaxy, including the Outer Rim Restaurant and Lounge at Spaceport THX1138.[5] The Sheb Niktose cantina on Vlemoth Port, located within the Mandalorian settlement of Arumorut, served glasses of kri'gee priced at four credits each.[4]
