"The supposed 'victim' is a woman named Krin Vel. She's been my friend forever. She helped buy me my freedom. I'd never kill her."
Kitster Banai, to a spacer[1]

Krin Vel was a Twi'lek moisture farmer who lived on Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"I had no idea Drik Bandrik was arranging a frame. As soon as I found out, I rushed back here. Please take me to Kitster!"
―Krin Vel, to a spacer[1]

Krin Vel was a friend of Kitster Chanchani Banai.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] a slaver named Drik Bandrik became upset with Kitster Banai's persistent attempts to improve the lives of slaves on Tatooine. In order to ruin Kitster, Drik Bandrik framed him with the murder of Krin Vel. Drik paid Krin to leave Mos Espa long enough for local vigilante leader Sont Toipo to amass an angry mob to kill Kitster. At this point, Krin Vel ignored everything of the plot against her friend. This mob of moisture farmers believed Krin Vel to have been murdered.[1]

However, a spacer working for Kitster managed to kill Sont Toipo and frighten his mob. The spacer then proceeded to find Krin Vel, so that she could help Kitster clear his name. When the spacer found Krin, she insisted that she did not know she was being used in a frame. She pleaded with the spacer to be brought back to Mos Espa. The spacer brought her back to the city, and Kitster claimed that with the help of Krin, they would see to it that Drik Bandrik went to prison. Fortunately for Kitster, Krin Vel assisted him amassing enough evidence to clear him, of all of Drik's fake charges. The spacer was then tasked with delivering the evidence to a Kitonak named Thermal Det, so that the information could be made public.[1]

Possible depictions of Krin Vel

Krin Vel was a Non-Player Character (NPC) in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Players who performed a series of quests for Kitster in Mos Espa had to find and escort Krin Vel back to the city.[1]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
