Kyle Katarn was a Force-sensitive human male who worked as a mercenary and an operative for the Rebel Alliance and became known as a thorn in the Galactic Empire's side. Eventually, Katarn went on to become a Jedi. For equipment, he used a green lightsaber and a K-16 Bryar Pistol.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Kyle Katarn was first detailed in the current Star Wars canon on a card illustrated by Jarreau Wimberly as part of the Galactic Ambitions expansion pack released in 2016 for Fantasy Flight Games's Star Wars: The Card Game.[1]
The character was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity as the playable character of Star Wars: Dark Forces, a first-person shooter video game developed by LucasArts and released in 1995.[2]
In Dark Forces, Katarn operates the HWK-290 light freighter Moldy Crow and investigates the Tak Base on Talay that was assaulted by dark troopers; eventually Katarn causes the termination of the Dark Trooper Project.[2] These elements were introduced in the new canon, but not associated with Katarn.[source?]
