Lanz Carpo was a small planet[3] located in the Lanz Carpo system[1] of the Core Worlds, possessing one of the highest crime rates in the region. It was controlled by Boss Carpo[2] and his Carpo Crime Syndicate,[3] and avoided occupation by the Galactic Empire due to Carpo informing on many Rebel Alliance members. General Carlist Rieekan of the Rebel Alliance sent Leia Organa and Han Solo on a mission to Lanz Carpo in order to trick the Empire into thinking Carpo was working with the rebels, drawing attention away from their other operations.[2]
