Laurie Goode is an English actor who was an uncredited extra in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and portrayed multiple roles:[1] a Saurin[2] in the cantina, an X-wing starfighter pilot during the Rebel briefing scene, and multiple stormtroopers. According to Goode, he was the one who banged his head.[1]
Goode said that he filled in as a stormtrooper for Peter Dukes, who had fallen ill, because they had the same measurements. He began filming in April 1976 as one of the stormtroopers invading the blockade runner. Later, he performed scenes on the Death Star, recalling one scene where he banged his head on a gantry during filming; multiple actors have made the same claim of being responsible for one of the finished movie's most famous goofs.[1] Goode also portrayed a Saurin,[2] Hrchek Kal Fas,[source?] after the unknown original actress for one of the two Saurins was out sick and unable to film the required scenes.[1]
In November 2013, Goode was one of the Star Wars guests who signed autographs at the Memorabilia convention in Birmingham, United Kingdom.[2] On January 22, 2016, Goode released a song titled "Who Was the Stormtrooper Who Banged His Head!?" on iTunes.[source?]
