Publisher's summaryEdit

Just who is Ania Solo? Is she a lowly salvage dealer from a backwater planet, as she says, or is she an escaped prisoner and the murderer of an Imperial Knight, as the authorities claim?

Plot summaryEdit

A year has passed since the liberation of the Mon Calamari Shipyards. The Imperial Knight Jao Assam, Ania Solo, the Mon Calamari engineer Sauk, and the assassin droid AG-37 embark on a quest to hunt down the rogue Sith Darth Wredd, who is waging an insurgency against the One Sith. Jao has seen a Force vision of Darth Wredd attacking Empress Marasiah Fel, the leader of the new Galactic Federation Triumvirate and is determined to foil his conspiracy. On Ania Solo's old junkyard on Carreras Minor's moon, a mysterious masked bounty hunter kills a group of creditors who have come to recollect Ania's debts.

Meanwhile, AG-37's freighter navigates through an orbital minefield and lands at Lasgo Port. Short on funds, Ania and her companions have decided to deliver a shipment to Lasgo Port. In an attempt to raise some credits, Ania tries unsuccessfully to tame a yarthul but forfeits her comlink. Shortly later, Jao finds Ania Solo on a wanted posted for the murder of an Imperial Knight. When confronted, Ania is evasive and defensive. Before Jao can glean anymore information from her, they encounter a damaged starship in space. Jao's adopted Imperial comm droid finds lifeforms aboard the seemingly crippled ship. Ania and her companions come to the aid of the crew.

While boarding the stricken vessel, Ania encounters her former flame Ramid. Following a passionate reunion, Ramid claims that his starship's systems had been damaged by the orbital mines. While Ania's companions go back to retrieve some repair tools, Ramid and his crew kidnap and restrain Ania. They then make a cold hyperspace jump but not before shooting at AG-37's freighter. Due to Jao's quick thinking, they escape destruction. However, AG-37, Sauk, and Jao quickly realize that Ania has been kidnapped.
