Publisher's summary[]
A legacy of secrets is revealed…
Loyalty and courage. Peace and justice. Master and apprentice. So the balance has been for many generations within the halls of the Jedi Temple—until now.
In Legacy of the Jedi, Lorian Nod emerges as a promising Padawan apprentice. Meanwhile, another apprentice by the name of Dooku discovers the dark side for the first time, ultimately threatening the lives of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker.
Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn returns in Secrets of the Jedi, embarking on an urgent mission to foil the mass assassination of planetary leaders. A generation later, the fate of the Clone Wars will hinge on Qui-Gon's success.
Two books in one—with exclusive bonus material—from The New York Times bestselling author of Jedi Quest and Star Wars: The Last of the Jedi.[1]
Plot summary[]
Legacy of the Jedi:
Part One:
The book starts as two Jedi students, the friends Dooku and Lorian Nod, enter the room of Dooku's master, Thame Cerulian, on Lorian's initiative. They find a manual about the Sith Holocron that was kept at the Jedi Temple. Dooku does nothing with it, but the next morning the Temple is stirring with the news that the Holocron has been stolen. Dooku goes to Lorian, who has it. He wanted to study things that nobody else knew so a master would pick him sooner. However, when Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis enters Lorian's room, Lorian says immediately that stealing it was Dooku's idea. The two friends have a falling out.
The next morning there is an assignment out of the Temple. Two teams of students will have to move through the labyrinth of Coruscant to bring back muja fruit to the Temple. The first one to do so wins. Lorian and Dooku are assigned as leader of opposite teams. The assignment starts out normal, with more students defeated by a minor lightsaber hit. But when Dooku and Lorian are the only ones left, they duel fiercely and ignore the rules of the game, just to hurt each other. Yoda stops them and brings them back to the Temple. A few days later, Lorian is expelled from the Jedi Order, and Dooku decides that being alone is better than having friends. They will always betray you.
Part Two, Thirteen years later:
Dooku is now the Master of Qui-Gon Jinn. They are aboard a senator's ship to protect him, but when they are attacked by a space pirate, they fail to do so. The pirate turns out to be Lorian, and they fight, but the Jedi win in the end. Lorian is handed over to the authorities.
Part Three, Thirty-two years later:
Qui-Gon now has his own apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi. As they return from a mission, trying to regain their shattered trust, they are forced to stop at Junction 5, where they meet a man from Qui-Gon's past, and will also influence Obi-Wan's future, even though he doesn't yet know it.
